No Return Timetable For Gordon Hayward
3 months agoCharlotte Hornets forward Gordon Hayward (calf) remains without a timeline for a return, but he shouldn't be expected to be on the floor for at least another week. Hayward is currently able to do only light work as he recovers from a strained left calf. Suffering the injury on Dec. 26 against the Los Angeles Clippers, Hayward has been sidelined for Charlotte's last nine games. With the 8-29 Hornets buried in the Eastern Conference standings, they are unlikely to rush the 33-year-old former All-Star back into the fold. Hayward, riding an expiring contract, has provided solid all-around contributions in 2023-24 with averages of 14.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.1 steals in 31.9 minutes over 25 contests, which may appear attractive to title-hopeful rosters at February's trade deadline. More minutes will stay available for rookies Brandon Miller (back) and Nick Smith Jr. as well as Cody Martin in the interim.
