Mickey Moniak Prolongs Hitting Streak Despite Shutout Loss
10 months agoLos Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak went 1-for-4 in Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 25-year-old looked to potentially be catalyzing a big Halos fourth inning with a leadoff single followed by a Taylor Ward walk and Mike Moustakas single, but Anaheim ultimately couldn't scratch a run. Moniak managed to extend his hitting streak to 13 games started, though, with the lone knock. The former No. 1 overall pick has written quite the 2023 comeback story, batting an eye-opening .333 with a .988 OPS, 11 home runs, 34 RBI and three stolen bases in 165 at-bats. Moniak should continue seeing the lion's share of center-field work in Mike Trout's (hand) stead.
