Michael Wacha Blanks Cleveland, Continues Resurgent Season
11 months agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Michael Wacha fired 6 2/3 scoreless innings versus the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday. The 31-year-old scattered four singles with one walk and five strikeouts for his seventh win of the season in the team's 5-0 shutout victory. Wacha is in the zone for a microscopic 0.91 ERA with 46 punchouts over his last eight starts (49 1/3 innings). The right-hander also owns five scoreless appearances of at least six innings over this dazzling stretch. Wacha is embarking on quite the career resurrection dating back to last year, as he is 18-4 since 2022. The former NLCS MVP lines up on Monday to face the San Francisco Giants, who he has a lifetime 1.42 ERA against across 38 career innings.
