Michael Kopech Carries No-Hit Bid Into Sixth Frame
11 months agoChicago White Sox starting pitcher Michael Kopech fired eight scoreless innings versus the Kansas City Royals on Friday, picking up just his second win of the season with the gem. The 27-year-old racked up a season-high 10 punch outs and was flawless through 5.1 innings before it was disrupted by a single. That would act as the only blemish on what was an otherwise masterful performance by the right-hander. Kopech has gotten knocked around all season long (12 homers allowed), but he improved his ERA to 4.83 and his WHIP to 1.33 with Friday's showcase. He might be able to avoid the long ball in his next start on Wednesday as well when he takes on the Cleveland Guardians, who are last in big flies as a team this season.
