MacKenzie Gore 2024 Fantasy Baseball Outlook Outlook: Solid Fantasy Option If He Can Cut Down The Walks
9 months agoWashington Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore posted decent totals in his first full year in the majors last season. Gore struck out 151 batters over 131 1/3 innings, posting a solid 25.9 K% (69th percentile per Baseball Savant) in 2023. Overall, Gore pitched to a 4.42 ERA and a 4.89 FIP with a 1.40 WHIP, showing glaring issues in his command with a 3.8 BB:9. With a guaranteed rotation spot on a less-than-optimal Nationals team, Gore could be a fantasy gem if he can better control his pitches. The 25-year-old has yet to show us that he can consistently throw strikes and won't win many games on a bad Nationals team. ATC projects Gore with a 4.29 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP with a poor 3.72 BB/9. He is worth a late-round flyer at his average consensus ADP of 317, but no more than that.
