Luis Castillo Notches First Win Since May
10 months agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Luis Castillo tossed seven innings with seven strikeouts in Monday's 8-4 victory versus the Washington Nationals. The 30-year-old allowed two earned runs on seven hits and one walk to nab his fifth win of the year and first since May 27. Castillo wasn't dominant in this one, but settled in decently after serving up a couple of solo jacks in the first and second frames. Another run would score in the third, but the hard-throwing hurler was not responsible for the damage due to a prior J.P. Crawford throwing error. The Seattle offense lifted him via six runs of support with an additional two for insurance during the eighth. The 2022 All-Star remains an upper-echelon fantasy starter, compiling a strong 2.86 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 108:28 K:BB over 94 1/3 innings this season. Castillo is penciled in for a stiff draw versus the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.
