Kyle Bradish 2024 Player Outlook: Elbow Injury Hampers High-End Outlook
11 months agoBaltimore Orioles starting pitcher Kyle Bradish (elbow) will start the 2024 season on the injured list with a UCL sprain in his right elbow. The 27-year-old has received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his arm and while general manager Mike Elias said Bradish is "pointed in the right direction", he did not offer a timeline for his return. This is a blow to both the Orioles and fantasy managers, as Bradish had an outstanding 2023 season, going 12-7 with a 2.83 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 25.0% strikeout rate in 30 starts and 168 2/3 innings pitched. While some regression was expected, Bradish has still been going inside the top 100 picks overall. Unfortunately, the injury and lack of timeline will make it difficult to assess his fantasy value this season. One somewhat comparable reference is Max Scherzer (back), who will be out until midseason recovering from surgery on a herniated disk. Scherzer's current ADP is around 298 and Bradish likely offers more fantasy upside than Scherzer at this point in their careers. Bradish’s ADP will likely be determined by how much risk fantasy managers are willing to take, but anywhere from pick 250 to 290 seems reasonable at this time.
