Knicks Don't Expect Mitchell Robinson To Return This Year
4 months agoThe New York Knicks expect center Mitchell Robinson (ankle) to miss the remainder of the season after the big man recently underwent surgery on his left ankle. Robinson's absence for the rest of the year is a big blow to New York's interior defense as well as their paint scoring. The 25-year-old rim protector was enjoying a career year in rebounding with 10.3 boards (5.3 offensive) in 29.2 minutes per game over 21 starts in the Big Apple, adding 6.2 points, 1.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks. Robinson's void leaves Isaiah Hartenstein with a clear pathway to a featured role whether it be as a starter or a reserve. Hartenstein looks like a must-roster fantasy player from here on out, totaling 8.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.2 swats, and 1.8 assists in 30.9 minutes per game over his last six contests. Jericho Sims (ankle) and Taj Gibson, a head coach Tom Thibodeau favorite, will help fill Robinson's gap, but the Knicks could be active at February's upcoming trade deadline.
