Justin Jackson 2021 Outlook: Opportunity For A Bigger Role If He Can Stay Healthy
3 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Justin Jackson, who was a seventh-round pick in 2018, must stay healthy in order to take advantage of what could be a fantasy-relevant role behind Austin Ekeler in 2021. The 6-foot, 199-pounder wasn't able to take advantage of the injury to Ekeler last year, and he's never been able to stay healthy for a full season in his three-year career. In 59 rushing attempts over nine games (four starts), Jackson rushed for 270 yards and no touchdowns, adding 19 receptions for 173 additional yards. There's untapped potential here in what should be a great offense under second-year quarterback Justin Herbert, but Jackson must stay healthy and prove himself over teammates Joshua Kelley and Larry Rountree this summer. Jackson is worth keeping an eye on to see if his role grows under this entirely new coaching staff, but as of right now, he's probably nothing more than an Ekeler handcuff in deeper leagues.
