Julio Urias Thrashed For Eight Runs In Loss
9 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Julio Urias permitted a career-worst eight earned runs over five innings on eight hits with two walks against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. He struck out only two batters, taking his sixth loss of the season. The 26-year-old was battered early and often in this one, letting four Orioles hitters come around to score during the first frame. Urias sacrificed two more runs in the third with one coming via a wild pitch. The southpaw ultimately surrendered another two runs across the fourth and fifth innings before his day mercifully ended. 2022's NL ERA leader has appeared a bit out of sorts in 2023, logging a 5.02 ERA and a career-worst 1.79 home runs per nine innings in 75 1/3 frames. Urias' 1.17 WHIP and 72:17 K:BB remain encouraging, though, and he'll look to regroup ahead of a tough matchup with the Toronto Blue Jays set for Tuesday.
