Julio Teheran Opts For Free Agency
7 months agoMilwaukee Brewers right-hander Julio Teheran elected to become a free agent on Friday. Milwaukee designated the longtime Atlanta Brave for assignment last Friday and he now hopes to latch onto another club this winter. Teheran was most recently able to make a couple of relief appearances for the Brewers in late September after a right hip impingement shelved him for nearly two months. The two-time All-Star righty appeared to be a shrewd pickup with a 1.53 ERA in 35 1/3 innings pitched through his first six starts of the year but undid that with a 7.18 ERA across his final 36 1/3 IP. Teheran still probably showed enough in 2023, after missing all of 2022 on the comeback trail back to the major leagues, to find a home either as a backend starter or long reliever next year.
