Jose Alvarado Could Start Rehab Assignment Tuesday
9 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Jose Alvarado (elbow/hand) saw his scheduled batting practice rained out on Thursday. The 28-year-old is now set to face hitters on Friday, but it doesn't sound as though his future rehab assignment is being pushed back. If all goes well, Alvarado could start the minor-league assignment as soon as Tuesday, per Phillies skipper Rob Thomson. The southpaw has spent two separate stints on the injured list this year with troublesome left elbow inflammation, effectively ceding Philly's ninth-inning role to Craig Kimbrel in the process. Nonetheless, Alvarado remains a decent fantasy stash with a 1.38 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 39 strikeouts over 26 innings this season.
