John Means 2024 Player Outlook: Lingering Elbow Issues A Red Flag
9 months agoBaltimore Orioles left-hander John Means has made just six starts over the last two seasons due to ongoing elbow issues. Means underwent Tommy John surgery after only two starts in the 2022 season and made just four trips to the mound in the 2023 season before another elbow issue forced him to miss the ALDS. Orioles skipper Brandon Hyde has already stated the 30-year-old will begin the season on the injured list, already putting a notable dent into his fantasy value. Means has never offered much in strikeouts with a career 20.6% K%, despite an elite 5% BB%. ATC is projecting just 19 starts (22 appearances) along with a 4.19 ERA and a 19.1% K% across 107 frames for Means in 2024. It's awfully difficult to see any fantasy value at this rate, even with a 339.59 ADP.
