Joe Musgrove Plays Catch On Friday
8 months agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Joe Musgrove (shoulder) played catch on Friday for the first time since hitting the 15-day injured list on Aug. 4 with right shoulder capsule inflammation. The 30-year-old came away feeling "great" with the throwing progression marking the first step in his recovery program. Musgrove now works to build up his arm strength over a two-week period. It likely leaves the right-hander in a tough spot to be a fantasy factor down the stretch, as Musgrove remains without a timetable for a return. It is likely contingent upon San Diego's ability to stay in the playoff race, so the former All-Star is not necessarily a must-stash with still quite a long way to go in his rehab anyway.
