Jhoan Duran Dispatches Orioles For Save No. 12
10 months agoMinnesota Twins relief pitcher Jhoan Duran only fired eight ninth-inning pitches to take care of the Baltimore Orioles and preserve a 1-0 shutout win for his 12th save of the campaign. The 25-year-old induced a Cedric Mullins pop-out and allowed a seemingly harmless Adley Rutschman chopper, but Jorge Mateo pinch-ran for the catcher and stole second base to get the tying run in scoring position. Right fielder Max Kepler made a praiseworthy sliding catch near foul ground to retire Anthony Santander as he gave one a ride. Finally, Ryan O'Hearn would ground out to end the game. The fire-balling Duran carries a terrific 1.41 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 42:14 K:BB across 32 innings as the Twins closer this season.
