Jabari Smith Jr. Enjoys Second-Half Explosion On Friday
10 months agoHouston Rockets forward/center Jabari Smith Jr. netted 33 points with seven rebounds, two assists, one block, and three three-pointers over 31 minutes in Friday's 100-99 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. He shot 8-for-18 from the floor and was a busy 14-for-17 from the charity stripe. Smith secured 29 of his points during the second half and put a bow on it with a game-winning buzzer-beater from beyond the arc. The 2022 No. 3 overall pick was a huge disappointment in his rookie year, failing to impress on either end of the hardwood. Smith posted 12.8 points, 7.2 boards, and 1.5 threes on 40.8% shooting overall across 31 minutes per game in 2022-2023. The 20-year-old is likely to represent a popular fantasy breakout candidate in many circles this fall.
