Hunter Harvey 2024 Player Outlook: Sneaky Saves Candidate?
1 month agoWashington Nationals reliever Hunter Harvey enjoyed himself a nice season in 2023, the second straight season in which he has flashed some dominant stuff. The right-hander worked to a 2.52 ERA in the 2022 season before tossing a 2.82 ERA alongside a career-best 23% K-BB% in 57 appearances a season ago, racking up 10 saves in the process. Closing duties in Washington currently belong to right-hander Kyle Finnegan who locked down 28 saves in the 2023 season while working to a 3.76 ERA across 67 outings. However, he also worked to a middling 13.5% K-BB% in that time, far inferior to that of Harvey's. While Finnegan remains the closer for the time being, Harvey is certainly a decent holds candidate on a weak Nationals team while potentially snatching away the closer's role in Washington sooner than later.
