Gregory Soto Slams Door On Rockies For First Save
12 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Gregory Soto recorded his first save of the season in closing the team's triumph over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. The 28-year-old now owns a 4.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 21 strikeouts this year. The southpaw appears to be in line to share ninth-inning duties with righty Craig Kimbrel, who worked three straight days before Saturday, depending on matchups while Jose Alvarado is sidelined. Soto checks a ton of positive boxes on Statcast with perhaps the most notable one being an 84.4% average exit velocity allowed. The two-time all-star should be added off waivers for saves-needy fantasy rosters with a potential uptick in save chances forthcoming in the interim. He saved 30 games for the Detroit Tigers last season.
