Gregory Santos Finishes Off Guardians For Save No. 2
10 months agoChicago White Sox relief pitcher Gregory Santos was summoned to protect Friday's 3-0 lead versus the Cleveland Guardians, tossing a scoreless ninth inning for his second save of the year. Jose Ramirez greeted the young right-hander with a knock, but Santos settled in to log two outs thereafter. Will Brennan would be hit by a pitch to get the tying run to bat before Santos struck out Oscar Gonzalez to lock this one down. With Kendall Graveman out of the mix via trade, Santos appears to have burst onto the scene as the temporary White Sox closer as Liam Hendriks (elbow) remains injured. The 23-year-old flame-thrower holds an attractive 2.63 ERA, 51 punchouts, and 5.0% walk rate across 51 1/3 frames this year. Santos should be added off waivers for saves-needy fantasy managers in the interim.
