Francisco Lindor Making Rare Cameo As Cleanup Hitter
11 months agoNew York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor will function as the fourth batter in the team's lineup on Thursday against the Atlanta Braves. It will be only the 29-year-old's fifth start as a cleanup hitter in his career. Lindor is slashing .216/.290/.419 with 11 homers, 42 RBI, and four stolen bases during the third season of his lucrative 10-year contract with the Mets. Those are adequate numbers, but Lindor is yet to rekindle his once perennial All-Star form for the most part in New York. The two-time Silver Slugger is just 3-for-25 over his last seven games, but fantasy managers hope the shift to the four-hole augments Lindor's RBI potential. It's likely only a temporary move, however, with prototypical cleanup man Pete Alonso (hand) out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale.
