Emmanuel Clase Nets Third Save Thursday
4 weeks agoCleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase registered his third save already this year to finish off the division-rival Minnesota Twins in Thursday's 4-2 win, pitching a clean ninth inning to protect the victory. Clase didn't fan any of the three batters he faced on a day the Guards punched out 15, but he's now up to three scoreless innings with two strikeouts to begin the season. After leading baseball in saves in each of the past two campaigns, the 26-year-old former American League Reliever of the Year is tied with Clay Holmes for the lead in saves during the very early stages of 2024. Cleveland paced MLB with 81 save opportunities last year, and Clase will hope to ride a similar wave again. He's entrenched as one of fantasy's elite closers going forward and should have no problem reaching 30 saves this season.
