Dylan Carlson Could Get Season-Ending Surgery
8 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Dylan Carlson (ankle/oblique) is considering going for season-ending surgery on his injured left ankle. The 24-year-old originally landed on the 10-day injured list on Aug. 12 with a left oblique strain, but he is also still bothered by soreness stemming from a left ankle sprain he suffered back on May 24. In a lost season for the Cardinals and with an eye towards 2024, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Carlson opt for the surgery at this stage. The former first-round pick's 2023 return remains up in the air, and season-long fantasy managers should probably be looking to let go. The switch-hitting Carlson put forth a promising 2021, but he's barely been fantasy relevant this year in hitting .219 (48-for-219) with five home runs, 27 RBI, 27 runs scored, and three stolen bases.
