Clint Capela Still Out With Groin Strain
2 months agoAtlanta Hawks center Clint Capela (groin) remains out for Wednesday's matchup against the Charlotte Hornets. Capela will miss his sixth consecutive game, but the Hawks announced on Tuesday that the veteran big man is progressing well in his rehabilitation from a strained left groin and will practice when they return from the All-Star break. Capela has nine days to recover before their next contest, coming on Feb. 23 versus the Toronto Raptors. With fill-in starter Onyeka Okongwu (toe) also sidelined on Wednesday, Atlanta could either shift Jalen Johnson to the five to open up minutes for Bogdan Bogdanovic and De'Andre Hunter, or give traditional center Bruno Fernando a spot start down low. In four career starts, Fernando has averaged just 4.8 points, 5.3 boards, 2.3 assists, and 1.2 blocks in 18.2 minutes, but he gets a Hornets team that places last in defensive efficiency (118.5) in 2023-24.
