Christian Walker Day-To-Day With Elbow Contusion
8 months agoArizona Diamondbacks first baseman Christian Walker (elbow) has been diagnosed with a right elbow contusion. The 32-year-old was hit by a pitch in the third inning of Saturday's game versus the Baltimore Orioles but stayed in there until the fifth frame. Pavin Smith substituted for Walker, who is day-to-day after X-rays came back negative. Walker is unlikely to be in Sunday's lineup for the series finale but doesn't look to be facing an extended absence. The right-handed slugger is slashing an imposing .270/.347/.523 with 29 home runs, 34 doubles, 89 RBI, and eight stolen bases in 488 at-bats overall. Smith and Emmanuel Rivera should platoon at the cold corner in Walker's absence, but Lourdes Gurriel Jr. can play there, too.
