Christian Encarnacion-Strand Being Called Up
10 months agoThe Cincinnati Reds are calling up No. 6 prospect Christian Encarnacion-Strand. The young infielder was scratched from Sunday's lineup at Triple-A Louisville, suggesting this could be the case. The suddenly-scuffling Reds offense is now making the call to the farm to promote one of their top hitting prospects. The 23-year-old figures to form a platoon with the lefty-hitting Joey Votto at first base, with third base mostly occupied by Elly De La Cruz. However, Encarnacion-Strand could see some action in right field or perhaps even become Cincinnati's everyday designated hitter with some strong hitting. Encarnacion-Strand is hitting .331 with a 1.042 OPS, 20 home runs, 62 RBI, and two stolen bases over 278 at-bats in the minors this year. He's an immediate waiver wire add across all fantasy formats.
