Chris Bassitt Extends Scoreless Streak To 20 Innings
12 months agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt twirled his second career complete-game shutout for his fifth win of the year against the Atlanta Braves on Friday. The 34-year-old authored his most dominant pitching performance of the season, punching out eight batters and extending his scoreless-inning streak to 20 frames dating back to an April 30 start against the Seattle Mariners. Other than a nine-run bombing via the St. Louis Cardinals during the opening week, the former all-star has logged a quality start or better in seven of his previous eight starts. Bassitt will carry a solid 3.49 ERA and 1.08 WHIP, but a concerning 41-to-22 strikeout-to-walk ratio into his next scheduled outing against Gerrit Cole and the New York Yankees on Wednesday at the Rogers Centre.
