Byron Buxton 2024 Player Outlook: Excellent Value If Health Permits
10 months agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton has long been one of the most frustrating players in fantasy baseball. Loaded with athleticism and god-given talent, the 30-year-old has shown flashes of a mouth-watering power and speed combination in his nine seasons in the big leagues. Of course, the problem is he has appeared in more than 92 games in just one of them. He slugged 19 home runs and stole nine bases in just 85 games in the 2023 season but also struck out in 31.4% of his plate appearances. Perhaps most notably, he didn't spend a single inning in the outfield in that time, something that is set to change this season as he is set for the bulk of reps in center field for the Twins in 2024. That is a scary notion for a player littered with a lengthy injury history. ATC is projecting just 106 games from Buxton in 2024, but also with 25 homers and 11 stolen bags. That could be good enough, of course, as long as he stays healthy that long.
