Braxton Garrett Thwarts Nationals For Third Win
11 months agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Braxton Garrett threw six innings of one-run ball on Saturday against the Washington Nationals. The 25-year-old struck out eight batters, permitting just four hits and one walk en route to his third win of the year in the squad's 5-2 victory. Garrett has developed into a respectable mixed-league contributor overall this season, posting a sharp 2.13 ERA and 0.87 WHIP with 49 punchouts over his last 38 innings. The crafty lefty may not flaunt the greatest stuff and his 46.7% hard-hit rate lives in the danger zone, but his composed 4.8% walk rate helps stabilize his effectiveness. Garrett looks to maintain his momentum for a matchup on Thursday with the Pittsburgh Pirates, a team he let in just one run against over 12 frames during 2022.
