Adbert Alzolay Bounces Back With Win
4 weeks agoChicago Cubs relief pitcher Adbert Alzolay picked up the win during Wednesday's 9-8 victory over the Colorado Rockies, throwing a scoreless ninth inning on one hit with two strikeouts to close out the victory. Although Alzolay was granted a win in the box score following the game on a technicality, fantasy managers are just glad he rebounded from blowing an Opening Day save in the walk-off loss to the Texas Rangers last Thursday. There were murmurs during spring training that manager Craig Counsell would let Chicago's bullpen hierarchy play out organically rather than assign roles himself, but setup man Hector Neris has struggled to a 6.75 ERA and 2.25 WHIP across his first three appearances. Alzolay, on the other hand, has given up just one run with four punchouts over his first three innings and is quite clearly first in line for the Cubs' save chances going forward.
