Aaron Hicks Closing In On Rehab Assignment
9 months agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Aaron Hicks (hamstring) is inching towards starting a rehab assignment. The 33-year-old did some running on the field and also took batting practice on Friday. Hicks has been shelved by a left hamstring strain since July 25. If all continues to go well in his recovery, the switch-hitter figures to return to the major-league lineup perhaps at some time in mid-August. Hicks' potential activation could spell trouble for the standing of top-prospect Colton Cowser, who is hitting a disastrous 7-for-56 with just two extra-base hits this season. Hicks, on the other hand, is managing a respectable .252/.349/.435 triple-slash line with six home runs, 20 RBI, and three stolen bases in 131 at-bats with the O's this year.
