BALLER MOVE: Add in 15+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 30% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: It’s easy to forget Bryce Elder was a surprise All-Star with an impressive first half in 2023. In his first 18 starts of last season, the 24-year-old former top prospect compiled a 2.97 ERA and 1.18 WHIP while striking out 80 batters and walking 34 over 109 innings.
This tale of two halves didn’t author a happy ending for Elder, however, as he closed the book on the campaign with a far inferior 5.11 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 48:29 K:BB across his final 68 2/3 frames (13 starts) of the year.
With ace right-hander Spencer Strider (elbow) done for the season, the Braves could be inclined to give Elder an extended look in their major league rotation. The right-hander took care of the last-place Miami Marlins in his 2024 regular-season debut for the win on April 22, firing 6 2/3 scoreless innings with four punchouts, but he did allow eight hits.

Elder has a respectable track record and plenty of upside in the wins category with Atlanta’s high-powered lineup backing him up. He’s worth an add for fantasy managers looking for a streamer who could eventually turn into a keeper ahead of Sunday’s scheduled start at home versus the visiting Cleveland Guardians. Through 22 games, Cleveland is slashing just .241/.310/.391 in 568 at-bats against right-handed pitching.
