4 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler fired eight brilliant innings in a 2-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday. He punched out 12 hitters and scattered three hits to boost his ERA to 3.60 and WHIP to 1.14. The 32-year-old has mostly cruised against Atlanta since 2020, collecting a masterful 1.82 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 11 starts (74.1 innings) opposing the divisional foe. Wheeler takes the ball next on Friday versus the light-hitting Washington Nationals. The former All-Star has run into a bit of trouble against the Nats since 2019, though, compiling a suspect 4.26 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 15 appearances (88.2 innings).
