Trea Turner Smacks Solo Homer In Win
10 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. After turning in 100 RBI last year, the 30-year-old's RBI upside hasn't been nearly as strong as fantasy managers may have envisioned when spending a first-round pick on him this past spring. Some of the decline has to do with the three-true-outcome nature of Phillies leadoff man Kyle Schwarber, but Turner simply hasn't hit well. The 2022 Silver Slugger is slashing an unfamiliar .248/.302/.387 with nine homers, 30 RBI, and 18 stolen bases during his Philadelphia debut season. After finishing up this series with the Rays on Thursday, Turner wraps up the first half with a three-game set against the Miami Marlins. He is hitting .313 with four bombs, 17 RBI, and eight swipes over 115 at-bats against Miami since 2020.
