Trea Turner Homers, Extends Hitting Streak In Loss
12 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in the seventh inning of Saturday's loss to Boston. Turner, the first overall pick in many fantasy leagues earlier this spring, got off to a fine start in registering a .321 batting average through April 19, which was also the last time that the speedy 29-year-old stole a base. Following Saturday's two-hit effort, Turner has a decent seven-game hitting streak active, but still only a mediocre .262 average on the campaign by the former batting champion's lofty standards. Fantasy managers surely like to see the power out of the reigning Silver Slugger, but they expected more in the speed department, as Turner has just four swipes spanning across 145 at-bats in 2023.
