Tanner Bibee Falls Short Of Win Despite Two-Hitter
4 months agoCleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee allowed only two hits and a walk in six innings against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday. The 24-year-old let in only one run, striking out a season-best nine hitters in a no-decision as the Guardians fell 2-1. Bibee is making a strong case to maintain his major-league roster spot even after Triston McKenzie (shoulder) comes off the injured list. Cleveland's number-five prospect has been a weapon thus far, allowing two runs or fewer in five of his first six starts in the face of some unfavorable matchups. Bibee takes a stellar 2.88 ERA and 34/9 K/BB ratio across 34.1 innings into his next start on Thursday for a test against the power-hitting, but reckless Minnesota Twins.
