Shane Bieber Exploits Short-Handed Astros
11 months agoCleveland Guardians starting pitcher Shane Bieber turned in a strong performance against the Houston Astros on Sunday. The 28-year-old matched season-bests in hits allowed (three) and strikeouts (nine) over seven scoreless innings for his fifth win of the year in the team's 5-0 shutout victory. Bieber capitalized on an inferior Houston lineup not only missing Yordan Alvarez (oblique), but also Jose Altuve and Jeremy Pena with rest days. The former Triple Crown winner submitted his first scoreless start since May 9. Bieber has some hurdles to climb to regain fantasy stalwart status, but he's getting back on track with only one run allowed over his last two appearances. The two-time All-Star is set to contend with the upstart Arizona Diamondbacks for a rigid test on Saturday.
