Russell Wilson 2020 Outlook: Expect Another Top-Level QB1 Season
5 years agoRussell Wilson finished as fantasy QB3 last season, the second time in three years that he placed as a Top 3 fantasy quarterback. He has consistently finished inside the Top 10 throughout his career. But Wilson was somewhat unreliable down the stretch, with three games of less than 11 fantasy points between Weeks 12 through 16. Still, he threw 30 TD passes for the third consecutive year and his 4,110 passing yards were the second highest of his career. He continues to display great efficiency, as he was 12th in attempts last year (516) and 11th in completions (341). Wilson is also one of the best deep ball throwers in the game, as he completed 43% of his deep throws, 56% were catchable, and he averaged over 30 air yards per deep completion, according to Sports Info Solutions. He has a fine pair of starting wide receivers to work with, as Tyler Lockett and very promising rookie DK Metcalf combined for over 1,900 yards and 15 TDs last season. You can count on Wilson for another 4,000 yard, 30 TD campaign with 300-plus rushing yards while he keeps his interceptions down (12 over the past two seasons). The NFFC ADP of 50 is right on target and in some leagues he will fall even further as owners wait on QBs. Expect him to be one of the Top 5 QBs selected in many drafts. If you get him past the seventh round he’ll be a fine value. The disappointing late weeks in 2019 should not linger into the new season.
