Max Muncy 2020 Player Outlook: Elite Multi-Position Option with Power
5 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers infielder Max Muncy proved that his 2018 breakout was not a fluke, posting a .251/.374/.515 slash line with 35 home runs, 101 runs scored, and 98 RBI. Muncy’s profile stayed very consistent from 2018 to 2019; he walked a ton (15.3% walk rate), struck out a lot (25.3% strikeout rate), and hit the ball hard and in the air (43.4% hard-hit rate, 14.2-degree launch angle). He has shown to be a strong power bat with a great eye (92nd percentile in expected on-base average, 87th percentile in expected slugging percentage) in the middle of a top Dodgers’ lineup with the ability to play first base, second base, and third base. The multi-position eligibility, combined with his elite power and batting vision makes Muncy a high-level fantasy option. His current average draft position is at pick 75, which seems like his ceiling given his batting average isn’t great. As such, Muncy would be a safer value around pick 85-100.
