Matt Olson Surging Again, Supplies Offense In Loss
9 months agoAtlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. The 29-year-old led off the second inning with a single before clubbing a fifth-inning leadoff homer to put Atlanta on the board. Olson was intentionally walked in the sixth frame before drawing a ninth-inning free pass in an effort to start a rally, but the next three Braves would be retired. The slugger's bat is catching fire again just when it seemed Olson was starting to cool a bit; he's now whacked four big flies (nine RBI) in as many games since July 28. Since Olson's initial warpath began on June 17, he's hitting .333 with 17 blasts and 43 RBI in 129 at-bats across 33 games in this span. Overall, the 2023 All-Star is hitting .263 with an NL-high .593 SLG and 36 bombs to go with an MLB-high 89 RBI over 396 ABs.
