Matt Chapman Hits And Throws On Friday
8 months agoToronto Blue Jays third baseman Matt Chapman (finger) resumed baseball activity and began hitting and throwing on Friday. The 30-year-old has resided on the injured list since Aug. 28 because of a right middle finger sprain and remains with no clear return timeline. Chapman should be stashed wherever possible, but he's been an ordinary fantasy asset after winning April's Player of the Month award. The slugger was slashing .190/.256/.266 with one home run, three doubles, and six RBI in his most recent 22 games (79 at-bats) before going down. Santiago Espinal and Cavan Biggio have split work at the hot corner in Chapman's stead, but the platoon leaves neither deserving of much of much attention in deeper-mixed/AL-only leagues.
