Marvin Jones 2020 Outlook: Mid-Round WR3 Target
5 years agoDetroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones enjoyed another productive 2019 season. Following an injury-plagued 2018, Jones rebounded, catching 62 balls for 779 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games. He finished as the number 28 receiver in full PPR leagues. While Jones could face regression in the touchdown department, his overall role in the Lions’ offense is secured. Last season, he averaged 7.1 targets per game and enjoyed a 20.2% target share. He also played 94.1% of snaps and ran routes on 90.3% of pass plays. Jones is a high-volume player in a pass-heavy offense. In addition to volume, Jones benefited from averaging 1.5 deep targets per game and a 26.3% target share in the red zone. Not only is he a high-volume player, but he also receives tons of high-value targets. Matthew Stafford is back healthy, which bodes well for the entire offense. Jones is being drafted as the number 44 wide receiver off the board. This price represents a value as Jones is likely to repeat his WR3 production from last year. Injuries remain a concern with Jones, but this risk is baked into his draft-day cost. Jones is a solid value at his current price, as the veteran wideout offers a solid WR3 or WR4 option for fantasy owners.
