Luis Castillo Cruises To Sixth Win On Friday
10 months agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Luis Castillo threw seven innings of one-run ball in Friday's 10-1 victory over the Houston Astros. The 30-year-old struck out only three batters, but permitted just five hits for his sixth win of the year. Castillo tossed two scoreless opening frames before running into a bit of trouble in the third. The right-hander allowed a Chas McCormick double before an Alex Bregman single drove him in to let Houston get on the board. Seattle would swiftly retaliate with a nine-run fourth-inning bombardment, granting Castillo quite a bit of leeway. The hard-throwing righty would coast the rest of the way, hurling four more scoreless innings before his night ended during the eighth frame with 89 pitches and the game well in hand. Castillo wraps up his first half with a fine 2.85 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 117:28 K:BB over 107 1/3 innings this season. The 2023 All-Star figures to take the ball at some point next weekend versus the lowly Detroit Tigers offense.
