Lucas Giolito Being Traded To Angels
9 months agoThe Los Angeles Angels are finalizing a trade to acquire Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito along with reliever Reynaldo Lopez. The Angels will send over their No. 2 prospect, catcher Edgar Quero, and No. 3 prospect, left-hander Ky Bush, to the South Side in exchange. Things seem to have changed very quickly in Anaheim. On the same night it was announced the Halos removed two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani from the trade market, they make a move to add one of the top starting pitchers on the trading block. Giolito is enjoying a fine rebound season after a disastrous 2022, putting up a 3.79 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 131:42 K:BB in 121 innings in 2023. The 29-year-old has one year left on his current contract and his redraft fantasy value remains fairly unchanged with the move. Giolito will offer Ohtani something of a running mate in the Angels rotation to help the club's push toward their first playoff berth since 2014.
