Keston Hiura 2019 Outlook: Brewers Future At Second Base Starts Soon
6 years agoMilwaukee Brewers second base prospect Keston Hiura has one of the best hit tools in the minor leagues. Not only that, but the ninth overall pick in the 2017 draft will be a power and speed contributor as well. In his first full season of professional ball, Hiura hit 13 homers with 43 RBI with a slash line of .293/.357/.821. He stole 15 bases but was caught 11 times. This isn’t a serious concern as Hiura is a smart player and will work to develop his efficiency. His improvement will likely not add to his stolen base total but ensure that he reaches double-digit steals in the majors. His performance during the Arizona Fall League exemplified Hiura's elite hit tool. Hiura earned the MVP award by hitting five homers with 33 RBI, seven SB, and a .323 batting average. Hiura is likely to start 2019 in Triple-A, but he should get plenty of playing time at the major-league level as the Brewers need a stabilizing force at second base. He currently has an ADP of 365 and is not drafted in most leagues. However, as the Brewers find themselves in contention, Hiura is sure to get called up. Make sure you are prepared to benefit from his production.
