Kenley Jansen Cleans Up Mess For 21st Save
10 months agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Kenley Jansen recorded one out on one hit in seven pitches for his 21st save of the year on Saturday versus the New York Mets. The All-Star fireman was summoned to put out a fire fueled by Justin Garza, who quickly permitted three runs to allow New York within striking distance. Jansen followed a Garza balk with a balk of his own upon entry before a Brett Baty single would drive in Mark Vientos to get the tying run to bat. Masataka Yoshida would ultimately make a tough catch in left field to finally put the game away. Jansen's had trouble with walks at times this season, but possesses an otherwise reliable 3.06 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 38:14 K:BB while collecting 21 of 24 save opportunities in 32 1/3 frames.
