Jose Berrios Strikes Out Seven In Third Victory
12 months agoToronto Blue Jays pitcher Jose Berrios gave up only two runs in 6.1 innings on his way to earning his third win on Saturday versus the Pirates. The 28-year-old punched out seven in the contest and has now encouragingly yielded two runs or less in four of his last five starts. His 4.91 ERA suggests he hasn't been particularly sharp overall, but a decent 1.24 WHIP implies Berrios has perhaps underachieved to a degree. A 41/8 K/BB ratio also indicates a rather strong balance for the two-time all-star, but Berrios braces now for a daunting tentative schedule forthcoming. The right-hander will face the Braves next, and then lines up against the Yankees and Rays to follow. Berrios, a popular buy-low fantasy asset entering the year, perhaps warrants sell-high consideration ahead of this difficult stretch.
