Jose Abreu Shows Signs Of Life With Another Home Run
11 months agoHouston Astros first baseman Jose Abreu drilled a high fastball for his second homer in as many days on Saturday against the Cleveland Guardians. The 36-year-old went 2-for-5 overall with three RBI and his third straight two-hit effort during the 6-4 win. Abreu is finally peeking out from the doldrums which saw him slug a pathetic .260 over his first 54 games with Houston. The former AL MVP is showing more of a pulse in nine June outings, hitting safely in eight games for a more customary .289 AVG with a .774 OPS and two homers plus nine RBI this month. Abreu has quite a way to go to regain the trust of fantasy managers, but it wouldn't hurt to scoop him up off waiver wires where he was discarded to see if he can fully return to form.
