Jorge Alfaro Elevated To Majors, Batting Sixth On Thursday
11 months agoColorado Rockies catcher Jorge Alfaro had his contract selected ahead of Thursday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Brian Serven has been demoted to Triple-A in a corresponding transaction. Alfaro is operating as the designated hitter and batting sixth against rookie AJ Smith-Shawver in his Rockies debut. The 30-year-old was brought in by Colorado less than a week ago and is hitting .323/.366/.524 with seven homers and five stolen bases in the minor leagues this season. Alfaro is not yet worthy of fantasy consideration, but he presents enough speed potential at the catcher position to be worth watching in redraft leagues.
