Jordan Hawkins Stands Out With Team-High 31 Points
6 months agoNew Orleans Pelicans guard Jordan Hawkins filled in admirably for CJ McCollum (lung) in Monday's 134-116 loss to the Denver Nuggets, dropping 31 points while draining seven three-pointers on 10 of 19 shooting overall with seven rebounds. Hawkins has already made a couple of spot starts for the injured Brandon Ingram, but he may now be looking at a longer stay with the first unit with McCollum out indefinitely. The 21-year-old UConn product is looking like a hot waiver-wire addition for fantasy managers, but he remains outside the top 150 in per-game nine-category value through seven games. Hawkins is averaging 12.6 points, 4.0 boards, and 2.9 triples but is shooting only 38.5% from the field, 72.7% from the line, and has yet to record a blocked shot. Look for the No. 14 overall pick to aid in points, threes, and turnovers categories, but it doesn't seem like Hawkins has graduated into much of a multi-stat contributor just yet.
