Jaylen Brown Taking A Seat Against Detroit
5 months agoBoston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown (back) will take a seat for the first time since Nov. 15 during Thursday's game versus the Detroit Pistons. The Celtics are massive favorites against a woeful Pistons team, giving them the luxury of offering Brown a breather due to a lower back contusion in this favorable situation. Brown's numbers are mostly down across the board in Boston's stacked lineup this year, but the 27-year-old two-way superstar is still providing a strong 22.6 points, 3.6 assists, 2.1 three-pointers, and 1.1 steals per game. Thursday is the first leg of a back-to-back, so the Celts could have an eye toward Brown returning on Friday against the Toronto Raptors for Atlantic Division action. Jayson Tatum (ankle) will play against Detroit and should take on extra usage, while Al Horford and Sam Hauser represent the most likely candidates to jump into head coach Joe Mazzulla's starting five.
